Description
One of the paintings from the Nordic Town Houses series in a Christmas card version. The card comes with the first verse of the "See, Amid the Winter's Snow." It is an English Christmas carol with lyrics written by Edward Caswall, and music composed by Sir John Goss. It is also known as "Hymn for Christmas Day" and "The Hymn for Christmas".
"See, amid the winter's snow,
Born for us on Earth below,
See, the tender Lamb appears,
Promised from eternal years."
In the 1990's the artist developed a fascination for what he called nordic town houses. He had long discussions with his architect friend about the genuine architecture of the old town houses in Scandinavia, particularly Norway and Sweden.
