Artist's Description

Seascape from Moelen outside Larvik in Norway, close to Hans Egil Saele's birth place.

The painting shows what was part of the property of his ancestors. Moelen is known for its Iron Age burial place and huge amount of stones, brought there by the ice in the last ice age.

It is recognised as one of the worlds greatest monuments from the last ice age. It is a widely known tourist attraction, and well visited all through the year, both for it's historical and geological value, and it's location by the open sea. Moelen is also important to ornithologists.
