Seascape with a view of the two lighthouses at the islands of greater and smaller Torungen outside Arendal in Norway.

The composer Richard Wagner on his way to Paris via London on board the sailing ship Thetis, came upon a storm and was driven as far as to this area. There he was stranded for several days while the ship was repaired. This event inspired his first masterpiece, The Flying Dutchman, which takes place at the coast of Norway.
